JESSICA KAPLAN

 

Jessica Kaplan is a creative director, trend expert and journalist specializing in shifts across culture, style and business throughout fashion, design, active, outdoor, and snow landscapes. 

Kaplan’s launch of Sidereal Haus in Jackson, Wyoming is a portfolio highlight in creative direction. As its founder, owner and CD, Kaplan’s vision of concept, renovation execution, interiors, branding, and management, continues today as a vibrant business.   

Previous brand work includes sales and marketing tenures at Burton Snowboards and OBEY Clothing in New York City. Kaplan’s technical expertise in outerwear and the outdoor-active demographic gives her the unique ability to connect the dots between businesses and their target communities, building and executing innovative strategies and campaigns. 

For close to two decades, Kaplan has concurrently traveled the world, going deep in the field of journalism and trend forecasting. From interviewing key figures, professional athletes and c-suite executives in sports, fashion and music to covering events and global tradeshows, Kaplan has held various editorial positions throughout her career. To note as a longtime active editor at Stylesight — which is now WGSN — Jessica covered the market from a global vantage point, embracing a variety of content. Her time as a lead trend consultant for Snowsports Industries America warrants credibility in the public speaking space where she presented trends for the platform. Kaplan has also contributed to a long list of publications. Highlights include pieces with Footwear NewsJackson Hole Snowboarder Magazine, Textile Insight, Burton Girls, Blackbook Magazine, The New York Times, Spin, Nylon, Psychopedia, and Snowboarder Magazine.

Kaplan currently sits on the Board of Directors of The Chill Foundation, a non-profit organization co-founded by Jake Burton Carpenter and his wife Donna of Burton Snowboards.
